The asphalt burned and steamed beneath the crowd’s feet, and suddenly the man regretted pouring the street’s surface just the night before. People unlatched their shoes from the street as if it was a large smudge of chewing gum. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead from the triple digit weather, a few attributed to legitimate nervousness. Perhaps his dream was meant to crash before it had even begun.
